“Bring Back the Light” by Gypsy

From November through January, religions around the world celebrate lights and the return of the light in various ways. In Rev. Melanie’s talk “A New Life”, she discusses the different faith traditions’ light celebrations at this time of year and what they mean to us individually and personally.

Enjoy this playlist of music celebrating winter solstice, also known as Yule. Notice how many of the songs have been adapted between the pagan and Christian faiths and how similar the messages are between the two. At the time when pagans are celebrating the rebirth of the “sun” and the light returning, Christians celebrate the birth of the “Son of God” who they say came to light the way.

Although much is known about Christianity in American culture and globally, pagan holidays and beliefs are often not well understood and even misunderstood. However, both pagan and Christian traditions are intended to light the way of a life of peace, love and joy.
